Well, it seems that here in the Northeast, summer leaked into the beginning of autumn, and now it's finally starting to get cold outside.
We're #basic and adore everything that has to do with fall - Pumpkin Spice everything, coffee, treats - but one thing we do NOT like are the colds that come with the temperature drop.
Frankly, I don't know anyone that enjoys being sick (especially since it doesn't get you out of school anymore).
This is what we do to avoid catching the annual case of the sniffles!
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Literally, chugging water all day long will assist in keeping your system in motion and will help flush out any bacteria that you catch!!
Even though it's continuously repeated, hydrating optimizes your cells' transit times. By being able to move as quickly and efficiently as possible, your white blood cells and lymph can move to nip viruses and bacteria as fast as possible!
This one's obvious - Wash your hands!
Wash your hands frequently to avoid getting sick! Also helpful - carry around hand sanitizer to assist in killing all that bacteria. We love this moisturizing one that doesn't dry out your skin. While you're at it, keep some regular moisturizer around to help keep try hands at bay this season.
We have preached about our love for all things tea previously on the blog. This time of year, we're particularly into drinking all the teas we can find! Our favorite is Tulsi.
Not only does drinking tea sooth your throat and sinuses, but it also is a great way to keep on hydrating!
If anyone I know ever feels the slightest tickle in their throat or the onset of sniffles, I immediately make a nice hot cup of Umcka Lemon Hot Drink. It's a great all-natural drink that helps to sooth the throat and shorten the duration of a cold!
Think of it as a natural version of those pharmacy anti-flu drink packets.
We start having 2-3 cups of this stuff as soon as the sniffles rear their ugly heads.
Take Care of YOU
The best way to keep colds/the flu/sickness at bay is by taking great care of yourself. This includes eating good, nourishing foods; exercising not only your body but also your mind; resting when needed (preferably under the covers on the couch with a pint of Wink); and making sure that you're happy underneath all that wellness!
